Poem: Drive Home

Would you judge me if I smiled to myself?
If I cracked like wind burnt skin
Because I’m soft as a dying leaf
And it’s marbled rocks within
When I cry it’s like a thunderclap
Distant and insane
But now I’m like the cloudline
A presentation in grey
The understatement of beauty
And the smoothness of your skin
My heart like the shoreline
New life breaking again
Could I keep you to myself?
Collect your heat like winter wind
Because I’m orphaned without you
But my path guides me in
